Mindfulness trait mediates between schizotypy and hallucinatory experiences

Abstract Schizotypy is a personality trait in healthy people that related to schizophrenic symptoms. People with high schizotypy tend have hallucinatory experiences. The relationship between and experiences could be explained by mindfulness traits stress. To test our hypothesized model, we conducted preregistered online survey Japanese non-clinical sample. In the analysis, structural equation modeling revealed model insufficiently fit data stress did not mediate However, consistent hypothesis, mediated them. Exploratory analysis including three facets of (i.e., observing, acting awareness, non-judging) as mediators best. These findings suggest attention current key factor understanding cognitive mechanisms underlying hallucinations schizophrenia.
